HISTORY 
VISION
Sonrise Church was a God given vision and burden upon the heart of Pastor John Reed.
He came directly from Southwestern Seminary in Texas
upon never seeing Nevada because of a supernatural Holy Spirit call.
Pastor John longed to minister to the hurting, broken, and lost people of Washoe County.
He desired to see souls saved, lives changed, and to be truly used by Jesus in ministry.
After ministering in California and Texas, Pastor John has finally found his home.
FIRST SERVICE
Sonrise Church began as a small Bible study in winter of 1994
at Billinghurst Middle School in Northwest Reno.
That Easter Sunday was the first worship service
which gave birth to Sonrise Church on the day that the Son of God rose from the dead.
Thus, the play on words "Son Rise" with the alternate spelling.
CONSTRUCTION
A few years later the congregation bought land in Northwest Reno
and built with their own hands the first 100 seat chapel.
In 2007, a brand new 350 seat chapel was started. Volunteer builders came from all over the country to build it, and by the grace of God, the new sanctuary building was completed in the winter of 2009.
